The Bischof lab seeks to hire a motivated postdoctoral researcher with a passion for
epigenetics and chromatin biology. Our main research goal is to elucidate epigenetic
mechanisms that control gene expression and maintain the integrity of the genome in
plants and human cells. Ultimately, we aim at applying gained knowledge to improve plant
traits and human health. The proposed project aims at identifying and characterizing new
proteins that bind specific histone variants and posttranslational modifications in the
plant model Arabidopsis thaliana. To do so, a combination of biochemical, genomic and
genetic approaches will be used.
The successful applicant must hold a PhD in Biology, should be excited about science,
creative, well organized and able to communicate effectively with lab members as well as
present research findings at national and international conferences. Experience in
epigenetics, next generation sequencing, biochemistry and/or plant biology are
welcomed but not mandatory.
The Bischof lab and the University of Zürich provide a vibrant scientific environment,
state-of-the art equipment and the opportunity to learn cutting-edge technologies.
Funding is available for 18 months and extendable for two additional years with a
competitive Swiss salary. The position is available immediately and will be opened until
filled.
Please send your application to sylvain.bischof@uzh.ch, including a CV, a personal
statement with scientific interests, qualifications and reasons for applying.
